Internet that gives back — and means it.
Here's the honest version. Shane Hood started Better Net after years working inside the corporate NBN and telco world — Telstra, NBN Co, Lendlease and Downer EDI — including managing some of the first Fibre to the Curb pole installs in the Sutherland Shire. He'd had enough of big providers promising the world and delivering a 1300 number: generic support that doesn't match what people actually need from their internet today. What stuck with him from those years wasn't the technical side — it was watching a job come together properly, and hearing from people who finally had reliable internet after going without for far too long. That's the same thing that drives Better Net now, just on a far more personal scale.
Today a growing number of households and businesses pay Better Net monthly to simply look after their internet — not sell them a one-off job, but manage it, monitor it, and make sure it never becomes a problem again. Some of those clients are high-profile people who need connectivity handled quietly and properly. That's the work we want to be known for.
The bigger goal is to grow into a proper regional ISP and managed network provider — and to use it to give back. We're starting with a year-long partnership supporting the Black Dog Institute's mental health work.
